DEX was present at Expert XP. During the event, the team—represented by Anderson Moreira, Head of Communication, and Sergio Machado, a partner joining the team in his first month at the firm as Head of Sales—attended a panel focused on the Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) ecosystem hosted by Itaú Asset.
One of the main focuses of the discussion was the structural efficiency of index funds in portfolio construction. Assessing the panel discussions, Sergio Machado highlighted the tax advantage of this vehicle, specifically the absence of advance tax withholding. “The panel was great because it clearly showed the impact a product like an ETF has on a client’s investment allocation, looking very clearly at the effect of come-cotas [semi-annual tax drag]. Not having to pay income tax upfront and the impact that has on the investment’s final yield is impressive,” he stated.
In light of the market’s rapid growth, the executive reinforced the company’s upcoming initiatives to foster the sector and meet investor demand for consolidated information. “We will soon launch our news portal. Clients are very eager for us to have a place to truly consolidate all this content,” Machado noted. He also mentioned that the data and financial education fronts will come to complement the company’s index offerings, which are already actively in operation.
The outlook for the local scenario is one of structural transformation, driven by investors’ search for greater efficiency. “More and more, the market will seek cheaper, more transparent products with better liquidity. That is everything the market wants,” analyzed the DEX partner. “The Brazilian market will literally follow the example of the US market, where ETFs already dominate completely.”
Faced with this imminent shift in capital flows and portfolio modernization, Machado concluded by emphasizing the company’s readiness to absorb this demand: “When the market flips that switch, money will flow very quickly to whoever has their setup ready, and DEX can help along that journey.”
